Amazon Prime Video has announced an October 7 premiere date for its eight-episode television adaptation of Stephen King's "Carrie," directed by Mike Flanagan. The streaming platform released a new teaser trailer alongside the announcement, with the series also being featured at San Diego Comic-Con ahead of its launch.

The adaptation expands on King's 1974 novel, following a bullied teenager who discovers she possesses telekinetic powers whilst navigating high school. By reimagining the source material for television, the series deepens the emotional arc of protagonist Carrie White and explores her isolation and supernatural abilities in greater depth than the original text.
