Student, 21, was dancing on couch when she fell out eighth floor window into courtyard… but now a ‘miracle’ has happened
A 21-year-old University of Georgia student miraculously survived a fall from an eighth-storey window at her apartment building in Athens on Saturday evening. Kristin Sargent fell whilst dancing on a couch near an open window and landed on a metal pool chair with a cushion, which broke her fall and likely saved her life. She is being treated in intensive care for multiple injuries, and police are treating the incident as an accident.
The fall occurred approximately 54 to 60 feet, following the University of Georgia's football victory over Oklahoma (41–13). Sargent, a senior studying finance and marketing, was found on the building's pool deck with blood on the cushion where she landed; the chair's armrest had broken from the impact. Her father travelled from Virginia to be with her and stated she is focused on recovery, with her already expressing gratitude for surviving the incident.
