Sydney teacher charged over covert recordings of female students
A 61-year-old teacher from Sydney’s Upper North Shore has been charged after police allegedly found covert recordings of female students made on school grounds. The case matters because the alleged recordings include material police have classified as child abuse material, and the man has been refused bail.
Police searched a Hornsby home after reports that devices there contained child abuse material, seizing a USB and other electronic devices. Investigators allege some recordings were made at a Wahroonga school where the man worked; he faces five counts of recording an intimate image without consent and one count each of producing and possessing child abuse material. He is due at Hornsby Local Court on 18 November.
