Review urges safeguards as survey finds widespread antisemitism in English schools

Daily Mail ·

A Government-commissioned review of antisemitism in English schools is expected to recommend 27 measures to better protect Jewish pupils. Among them are clearer rules on political impartiality, which could lead schools to restrict teachers’ use of pro-Palestinian badges and other political symbols in class.

A survey for the review found that three in five Jewish pupils had experienced antisemitism at school, while one in five pupils had witnessed it; fewer than half of those who reported it thought it would be addressed. Recommendations include training staff on the IHRA working definition, adding antisemitism to safeguarding and online safety policies, and strengthening Holocaust and Jewish education. The Government is expected to accept the recommendations.
