A horrific multi-vehicle collision on a busy Victorian highway has claimed three lives, with a 14-year-old girl among the deceased. The crash, involving two cars and a truck, highlights the dangers of travel during peak holiday periods when roads are congested and fatigue may be a factor.

The accident occurred on the Western Highway near Mount Drummond Road at Ledcourt at 6.45pm on Sunday. Two occupants of one vehicle died at the scene, whilst a 14-year-old passenger from the second car was airlifted to hospital but subsequently passed away. An 11-year-old girl remains in critical condition with upper body injuries, whilst a 17-year-old learner driver sustained minor injuries. Police have launched an investigation, with detectives examining whether fatigue, distraction or excessive speed contributed to the collision.
