Reagan and Gorbachev met five times in the late 1980s, beginning with a first summit in Geneva, Switzerland, in November 1985, where the pair started to build a personal rapport. Their second meeting, held in Reykjavik, Iceland, in October 1986, is the focus of the new film, as it marked the point at which the two leaders began to establish genuine trust despite the high tensions of the nuclear arms race.
