US midterm elections take place halfway through a president’s four-year term. Voters choose members of Congress, whose decisions on laws, spending and investigations can affect how much room the president has to pursue his plans.

MAGA refers to the political movement built around Donald Trump and his “Make America Great Again” slogan. It includes voters and politicians with different views, and disagreements over issues such as foreign policy and the economy can put pressure on the coalition.

The special follows political conversations on the campaign trail as the 2026 elections approach. Its subject matters because changes in support for Trump and the candidates aligned with him could shape control of Congress and the direction of US policy.
