The comments highlight the long-running disputes and personal strain that followed the break-up of Creedence, which affected both his creative output and willingness to release music.

The records he singled out were *The Blue Ridge Rangers*, *John Fogerty*, *Hoodoo* and *Zephyr National*. After CCR ended in 1972, Fogerty faced legal and contractual conflicts with Fantasy Records, including a lawsuit alleging that his solo song ‘The Old Man Down the Road’ copied CCR’s ‘Run Through the Jungle’; he ultimately won. His dissatisfaction with that period helps explain his lengthy withdrawal from recording before his commercial return with *Centerfield* in 1985.
