David Gilmour praised former Pink Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright, saying he would readily work with him again despite acknowledging that their collaboration could be demanding. The remarks underline Wright’s importance to Pink Floyd’s sound and Gilmour’s respect for his musical contribution.
Gilmour said Wright could produce an effective chord sequence almost instantly and that his standards pushed other musicians to work hard. While describing him as occasionally difficult, Gilmour called Wright a musician with “soul”; the comments came in a 2003 interview, years after Wright had returned to the band following earlier tensions.
