‘The Illusion of an Everlasting Summer’ Boarded by Autlook Ahead of Locarno Premiere as Clip Debuts (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety · 2 months ago

Documentary sales agent Autlook has come on board to handle world sales for "The Illusion of an Everlasting Summer," a debut feature by photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti that will premiere in the Filmmakers of the Present Competition at the Locarno Film Festival. Variety has released an exclusive clip from the film, which was partly financed by Mubi, holding UK/Ireland and North American distribution rights.

Filmed over 25 years, the documentary follows cousins Guillermina and Belinda as they grow up on neighbouring farms in Argentina's Pampas, tracing their journey from childhood games, beginning in 1999 when they were nine, through to adulthood, work, family and motherhood. It is produced by Julia Solomonoff, with Mubi and Impact Partners co-producing, and is described as offering a female-centred counterpoint to the region's gaucho mythology. Sanguinetti, a Guggenheim Fellow and Magnum member since 2007, is known for photographic works including "The Adventures of Guille and Belinda."

  • Autlook signs as sales agent for Sanguinetti's 25-year documentary project.
  • Film premieres at Locarno's Filmmakers of the Present Competition.
  • Mubi holds UK/Ireland and North America distribution rights.
