The new BMW iX4 is the X4 reborn as an EV
BMW has unveiled the iX4, an electric version of its X4 compact SUV that carries the distinctive design of the petrol model whilst introducing the Neue Klasse electric drivetrain. The vehicle arrives as BMW's third Neue Klasse EV offering and maintains the X4's signature tall stance and swooping rear roofline, now augmented with aggressive styling cues and a substantial rear spoiler.
The iX4 comes in two US configurations: the 50 xDrive and the sportier M60 xDrive. The 50 xDrive model delivers up to 428 miles of EPA-estimated range, 463 horsepower and the ability to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 21 minutes thanks to its 800-volt architecture. The M60 xDrive variant offers 603 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 149 mph. The iX4 50 xDrive will start at $67,695 when it arrives in showrooms in March 2027.

BMW has introduced the iX4, an electric version of its X4 compact SUV. The iX4 retains the distinctive design of the petrol-powered X4 whilst using BMW's new Neue Klasse electric drivetrain instead, offering buyers an electric alternative in the compact SUV segment.
The Neue Klasse is BMW's latest generation of electric vehicles. By introducing an electric X4, BMW follows a common strategy among car makers of adapting existing model designs to battery power as the industry transitions away from petrol engines.
The iX4 comes in two versions: one designed for efficiency with over 400 miles of range, and another prioritising performance. The vehicle can charge rapidly to eighty per cent capacity in approximately twenty minutes, with customer deliveries beginning in March 2027.
