Christopher Nolan's cinema release of "The Odyssey" has been accompanied by a companion documentary that has quickly become a hit on streaming, even before the film's theatrical run gets fully under way. "The Odyssey: The Making of an Epic" was released on Peacock this week, timed to coincide with the film's arrival in cinemas, and demonstrates the strength of interest in Nolan's adaptation of Homer's epic poem.

The documentary has risen to No. 4 on Peacock's chart of most-popular movies. It examines the scale of the production, which was shot on location across Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland and Scotland, and highlights how Nolan and producer Emma Thomas favoured real locations, practical crowds and physical sets over digital alternatives such as Volume screens.
