After more than a decade of persistence, designer Brent Waller's passion project has finally come to fruition as Lego releases an official X-Files set. The 1,478-piece creation recreates one of the show's most recognizable settings—FBI Agent Mulder's cluttered office—complete with his iconic "I Want to Believe" poster and the distinctive pencils he famously flicked at the ceiling. A forest landscape depicting an alien abduction sits atop the office setting, while the minifigure roster includes series protagonists Mulder and Scully alongside supporting characters and creatures from the show.

Waller's journey to get the set approved demonstrates the obstacles fan-designers face within Lego's approval process. He first submitted his design in 2014 only to be rejected on the grounds that it was deemed inappropriate for a toy manufacturer's younger audience. Undeterred by subsequent rejections despite achieving the required 10,000 fan votes, Waller persisted with his vision until 2025, when Lego's competition for 1990s-themed sets provided the breakthrough he needed after more than a decade of attempts.
