This JRPG Series Lightly Inspired by the Console Wars Is Finally Getting a New PS5 Sequel
Hyperdimension Neptunia is getting its first new mainline sequel since 2015, with Hyperspace Neptunia: Unlimited due on PS5 and PS4 in 2027. The series draws lightly on console brands for its characters and has built a cult following through numerous sequels and spin-offs.
The game first launched in Japan earlier this year and is being expanded for its western release with larger dungeons, new exploration options and more character customisation. Players can switch between running and flying, explore waterways and rooftops, equip stat-boosting Processor Units and craft abilities; no western release date has been set. Physical editions are planned for both consoles in North America, while Europe will receive a boxed PS5 version only.

Explained simply
Hyperdimension Neptunia is a Japanese role-playing game series set in a fictional world where countries are represented by characters called goddesses. Its characters and setting draw loosely on video game consoles and the companies that make them, but the games tell their own fantasy stories.
The series began in 2010 and has grown through main games and spin-offs, building a devoted following. Its playful references to the games industry are part of its identity, while its role-playing adventures centre on exploring, fighting and developing characters.
