Three men were stabbed in the neck and face by an unidentified attacker in Brooklyn's Crown Heights early on Monday morning, just hours before New York City's West Indian American Day Carnival parade was due to begin. The NYPD said the attacks occurred in two separate incidents within roughly half an hour of each other, and a manhunt is under way for the suspect, who remains at large. The timing has raised concern given the carnival draws millions of visitors to the area.

The first attack, near Carroll Street and Utica Avenue, left a 23-year-old man stabbed in the neck and a 36-year-old man stabbed in the face. Less than 30 minutes later, a 32-year-old man was stabbed in the neck at Utica Avenue and President Street. All three were taken to Kings County Hospital; the 32-year-old is in critical condition while the other two are stable, and all are expected to survive. The suspect, described only as wearing grey jeans and a black T-shirt, fled the scene, and it remains unclear whether the stabbings will affect the carnival's schedule, which began with the J'Ouvert street party at 6am and a parade along Eastern Parkway set to start at 11am.
