Tiger Woods to redesign famed Long Island golf club that was rocked by prostitution scandal
Tiger Woods’s design firm will redesign Tam O’Shanter Country Club on Long Island, aiming to revive a course that has been closed since 2021. The project marks a return for the site, which became known for a prostitution and strippers scandal involving members in the early 2010s.
The land was sold in 2019 for a proposed housing development, but the plans fell through after arsenic was discovered. TGR Design is partnering with private golf company The Armchair Collective, which bought the land in September; the plans include new practice facilities, a clubhouse and a golf performance centre. Woods has not played since the 2024 Open Championship, and his return to competition remains uncertain.
