‘Tiny Team’ Working on Next Horizon Single Player Game, Years Away from Release
A "tiny team" within Guerrilla Games' Amsterdam studio is working on the next single-player Horizon game, but the project is reportedly still years from release. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier cited sources familiar with the studio's plans, meaning fans of the franchise may not see the third mainline instalment until at least 2030, given typical development timelines.
The original Horizon Zero Dawn launched in 2017, followed by Horizon Forbidden West in 2022. The bulk of Guerrilla's staff are instead focused on spin-off title Horizon Hunters Gathering, which is being scaled back into a more conventional co-op action game after disappointing playtest feedback, and could face cancellation if it fails to impress executives by the end of the year.
