Fox News ·

The Tennessee Titans released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott on Tuesday, days after earning their first win of the NFL season with a 26-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The team said it acted after reviewing an incident at its facility, but provided no details; the decision came as the Titans were beginning to build on a rare positive result.

The Titans said the incident took place on Thursday, 15 October, and that they would make no further comment. Elliott had appeared in five games this season and recorded 11 tackles, after joining head coach Robert Saleh in Tennessee from San Francisco. Separately, defensive back Alontae Taylor missed the Colts game by coach’s decision; he had 19 tackles and one sack in the first five games. Tennessee are due to host the Cleveland Browns next.

The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team in the NFL, the top league in the United States. A season is made up of regular-season games, and teams try to win enough of them to reach the playoffs.

Jordan Elliott is a defensive tackle, a position focused on stopping opponents’ running plays and pressuring the quarterback. He joined Tennessee after playing for the San Francisco 49ers, where Robert Saleh had been a coach; Saleh is now the Titans’ head coach.

Team releases can affect how a squad is put together, but the Titans have not explained the facility incident they reviewed. Their next game is against the Cleveland Browns, and the team will have to manage its defensive line without Elliott.
