Producer Todd Black will receive the first Career Producer Honor at the 39th Virginia Film Festival in Charlottesville, running from 21 to 25 October. The new award recognises the artistic contribution of producers, and Black will take part in festival events including a screening of “The Social Reckoning” and a discussion with its director, Aaron Sorkin.

Black’s credits include “Fences”, which received a Best Picture nomination in 2017, as well as “The Pursuit of Happyness”, “Being the Ricardos” and “Emancipation”. The honour is funded by an endowment created by producer Julie Lynn and her sister Amy Quinn; Black is also producing Amazon MGM’s “Madden”, starring Nicolas Cage, due on Prime Video on 18 November.
