Director Neil Jordan wrote a screenplay for an unmade sequel to 1994's *Interview with the Vampire*, adapting Anne Rice's second novel *The Vampire Lestat* with Tom Cruise reprising his role as Lestat. The project never materialised because Cruise, who had not yet done sequels, declined to return to the character at the time.

Jordan revealed the details whilst discussing the film's new 4K restoration. The script, set primarily in 18th-century France, would have centred on Lestat's origin story rather than Louis's narrative. Though the screenplay exists somewhere in Warner Bros.' archives, Jordan cannot access his copy, which was written in an obsolete version of Final Draft software. Given that three decades have passed and Cruise has since become known for sequels—including *Mission: Impossible*, *Top Gun*, and *Jack Reacher*—Jordan believes the project is unlikely to ever be revived.
