Tom Hanks Returning to Broadway After 14 Years for New Play ‘This World of Tomorrow’
Tom Hanks will return to Broadway after 14 years, starring with Kelli O’Hara in the play “This World of Tomorrow”. The move brings a production that sold out its Off Broadway run at the Shed to a wider audience, while marking Hanks’s first Broadway appearance since his Tony-nominated role in “Lucky Guy”.
Based on Hanks’s short stories, the time-travel romance is set at the end of the 21st century and follows Bert Allenberry as he repeatedly revisits a day at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in Queens. Hanks is adapting the work with James Glossman, and Kenny Leon will direct. The Shubert theatre and full cast and creative team are yet to be announced.
