He described how his life and career only improved once he stopped trying to control every outcome, embraced gratitude for life's simplest pleasures and placed his faith in God rather than relying solely on relentless hustling.

Hanks reflected on the emotional weight of growing up in his famous father's shadow and on his journey through rehab. He recalled a low point when he was fresh out of rehab, broke and without auditions or interest in his music, yet found contentment in small daily routines such as going for a walk or riding his bike. He said that shifting his mindset towards gratitude and surrendering his worries was the "game changer" that ultimately smoothed his career, adding that "when I got to that point, that's when the phone started ringing".
