Top prosecutor Jason Reding Quiñones, tapped for Russiagate ‘conspiracy’ probe, quits DOJ
Jason Reding Quiñones, the top federal prosecutor in South Florida, resigned from the US Department of Justice on Friday. His departure comes after he was appointed to oversee an investigation into alleged efforts by former Obama administration officials to promote claims of collusion between Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia.
Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the resignation and praised Quiñones’s work on crime and transnational cases. The investigation, launched in August 2025, subpoenaed former intelligence and FBI chiefs John Brennan, James Clapper and James Comey, but reportedly lost momentum. Former lead investigator Joe diGenova resigned in September, saying indictments without evidence would raise ethical concerns.
In short
- Jason Reding Quiñones has resigned from the Justice Department.
- He had overseen a probe into alleged efforts to promote Trump-Russia collusion claims.
- The investigation subpoenaed three former intelligence and FBI chiefs.
