Unsettling moment Russell Brand jokes with Noel Fielding about being rapists in front of Lily Allen in TV exchange she found ‘really horrendous’

A 2007 clip from Channel 4’s *Big Fat Quiz of the Year* has resurfaced showing Russell Brand and Noel Fielding joking about rape in front of Lily Allen. Allen, the only woman among the guests, looked uncomfortable during the exchange and later called it “really horrendous”; the clip has returned to attention after Brand was convicted of rape and sexual assault.

In the clip, Jonathan Ross calls Brand and Fielding “c***smen”, prompting Fielding to say they are not rapists. The pair then continue with jokes about Jack the Ripper, capes and rape, while the studio audience laughs. Allen said in 2023 that she laughed along at the time because of the culture then, though the exchange makes her uncomfortable in retrospect; the article says there is no suggestion Fielding has faced similar allegations.
