Jonathan Gee, aged 31, has won a disability discrimination case against baking goods manufacturer JF Renshaw, receiving compensation of £9,710. The Liverpool Employment Tribunal found that the company unlawfully discriminated against him after dismissing him in 2020 for swearing at a colleague during an outburst related to his Tourette's syndrome, with the judge ruling that the employer treated his disabilities as "too much of a burden".

Mr Gee began casual work at JF Renshaw in September 2020 and was dismissed two months later, on the same day management discussed workplace adjustments recommended by occupational health. He has Tourette's syndrome alongside ADHD, OCD and PTSD, conditions that have caused 56 previous jobs to end due to anger-related incidents. The judge found the company's stated reason for dismissal—releasing temporary staff—pretextual, as only Mr Gee and one other employee were let go. He subsequently applied for similar roles in 2021 and 2023 but was rejected both times, which the judge determined constituted disability discrimination.
