Three men have admitted their part in a daylight smash-and-grab raid on a family-run jewellers in the affluent London suburb of Richmond, footage of which went viral in early 2026. Deniz Mehmet, Robert Clarke and Lee Ramsey pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob after being filmed smashing the windows of Gregory & Co with a large hammer while shop staff tried to fend them off, before fleeing on foot with jewellery worth around £225,000. The case has drawn attention both for the brazen nature of the attack in an up-market area and as an example of the Metropolitan Police's efforts against such robberies.

The raid took place on 31 January, and the three men — Mehmet, 28, Clarke, 50, and Ramsey, 46, all from Essex — are due to be sentenced at the end of the month. Police released bodyworn footage showing the two older suspects appearing startled as they were arrested in bed in the middle of the night. Detective Superintendent Dan Mitchell, of the Met's Flying Squad, said such robberies cause real concern for targeted communities and described the guilty pleas as a significant step in a detailed and determined investigation.
