The White House announced a senior staffing transition with Will Scharf moving from his current role as assistant to the president and White House staff secretary to assume the position of White House Counsel on September 1st. The appointment constitutes an internal promotion within the administration's senior leadership structure.

Scharf's predecessor, David Warrington, is departing the position after serving as White House Counsel and previously working on the presidential campaign. The administration characterised the transition as a planned succession, with Warrington moving into private sector work whilst both officials received commendation for their respective contributions.
