Donald Trump confronted a female CNN reporter as he arrived at the United Nations General Assembly in New York with Melania Trump. He criticised CNN for continuing to cover him after his administration barred the network from the White House, while claiming the United States was making progress.

The exchange followed the administration’s decision to exclude CNN, MS NOW and Politico over coverage it described as “fake news”. Asked about Iran, Trump offered only general remarks, while his message to Vladimir Putin was to “settle the war”.
