Trump sets eyes on renaming entire STATE after Lake America change

Daily Mail · 29 minutes ago

Donald Trump has signalled he wants to rename New Mexico, posting a Truth Social map with "Mexico" crossed out and replaced with "America." No explanation accompanied the post, but it followed his recent renaming of Lake Ontario to "Lake America" amid strained US-Canada relations, continuing a pattern established when he renamed the Gulf of Mexico the "Gulf of America" earlier in his term, a move that drew significant criticism.

The New Mexico post came shortly after Trump shared an image of himself crossing out "Ontario" on a map of Lake Ontario, part of a wider social media campaign that has included an AI-generated video of him swapping the lake's signage and footage of armed geese "patrolling" the water. Despite only around 14 per cent of Americans backing the Lake Ontario change, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, Trump's official store began selling $55 "Lake America" caps. He also posted a comparison graphic defending his renaming spree by listing terms he claims the "Left" has changed, including Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples' Day and Washington Redskins to Washington Commanders. The White House has not yet responded to a request for comment.
