Trusselina – “Gastro” & “Trusselina Archimboldi”
Mikaela Oppenheimer (formerly of Brooklyn emo band Hello Mary) and Hayden McGarvey (formerly of Philadelphia shoegaze act Bleary Eyed) have formed a new duo called Trusselina, releasing a two-song single that marks their effective debut after a quietly issued live recording last year. The pairing matters as a fresh collaboration between two established indie-scene musicians who met touring together in 2024, now working in a markedly different style from either of their previous bands.
The new single features "Gastro" and "Trusselina Archimboldi", described as glitchy, skittering electro-folk bedroom pop that distorts pretty acoustic and vocal elements with breakbeats and digital effects, drawing comparisons to acts like ear and Bassvictim. Oppenheimer also shared that McGarvey wrote the beat for "Trusselina Archimboldi" while touring in France, shortly before a bout of food poisoning. The duo are set to play New York's Night Club 101 on 17th September, where they plan to debut further new material.
