Linda Cardellini plays Jason Voorhees’s mother in Friday the 13th prequel

A new Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake, leads tonight’s television picks, with Linda Cardellini starring as Pam Voorhees, Jason’s mother. The A24-produced horror follows Pam’s grief after Jason drowns at the summer camp where she works, then takes a turn when police find his remains and reveal more about their story.

The other programmes include Jamie Oliver preparing two dishes and a drink, a report on a man who believes methylene blue can boost brain function, and a documentary examining Aberfan as both a disaster and the result of industrial negligence. David Harewood stars in legal drama Pierre, while a Latvian series set in 1970s Riga begins a terrestrial run on Channel 4.
