Two Italian men who burgled Premier League footballers’ homes while the players were away have received additional prison sentences. Prosecutors said the pair travelled from Italy to target wealthy players, using social media and visits to training grounds to find out when their homes would be unoccupied.

The burglaries targeted Neil Etheridge, Matheus Cunha and Leon Bailey in late 2023: up to £500,000 in designer goods was taken from Cunha’s home, and about £15,000 from Etheridge’s, while Bailey’s security system alerted police. The men are already serving sentences for the 2024 burglary of Alexander Isak’s home, where £68,000 in jewellery and £10,000 in cash were stolen; Valentino Nikolov received an extra year and four months, and Charlie Jovanovic an extra two years and four months.
