Two of Gaming’s Best Sci-Fi Franchises Are Officially Crossing Over

Collider · 1 month ago

Apex Legends, the popular battle royale game, is holding a limited-time crossover event with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, bringing the acclaimed sci-fi anime's aesthetic and characters into the game. The article frames this as a rare, more ambitious example of a gaming crossover at a time when such tie-ins have become a routine part of live-service titles.

The event runs from 14 July to 4 August 2026, with the accompanying cosmetic collection remaining in the store until 18 August. Its centrepiece is a temporary "Night City takeover" of the vertical E-District map (introduced in Season 22 in 2024) for the Wildcard mode, adding neon skylines, holographic koi, corrupted signage and corporate advertising. Eight Legends and eight weapons receive themed skins, with characters reimagined as figures from the show — including Sparrow as David Martinez, Axle as Lucy, Rampart as Rebecca, Gibraltar as Royce, Ash as Lizzy Wizzy and Loba as Panam Palmer. Players can also earn in-game "Eddies" to unlock Arasaka-themed Valkyrie and Kang-Tao-themed Mirage skins from a reward shop.
