At Tyler Robinson's pre-trial hearing on Thursday, prosecutors played redacted footage of a police interview with his partner, Lance Twiggs, 23. Robinson is accused of assassinating the conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on 10 September 2025, and the interview footage forms part of the evidence being aired ahead of the trial.

In the April 2026 interview, Twiggs told Utah police he had met Robinson in 2023 as a roommate and began dating him about two months later. He said that on the day of the killing Robinson left early claiming a long work shift, then that night directed him to a handwritten note reading, "I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it." Twiggs said Robinson later admitted to the shooting and said he would turn himself in. Prosecutors allege Robinson also left texts about hiding the weapon; authorities said Twiggs cooperated quickly and provided his DNA.
