A 68-year-old man fired a bow and arrow at passing vehicles on a busy main road in Skelmanthorpe, West Yorkshire, in an incident witnessed by numerous members of the public. The attack raises serious community safety concerns, particularly given it occurred during the evening rush hour on a well-used route with significant foot and vehicle traffic.

The incident took place around 5:30pm and followed reports of the man driving dangerously whilst throwing rubbish from a car. Arrows struck multiple vehicles, damaging a van and piercing car tyres, though no one was injured. Members of the public bravely intervened to restrain the suspect until West Yorkshire Police arrived at the scene. A 68-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and remains in custody. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward, particularly those with mobile phone, dashcam or CCTV footage, and have increased patrols in the area.
