Vyner braced for eye-opening Wrexham popularity in US

BBC Sport · 3 hours ago

Wrexham defender Zak Vyner says he is eager to experience the club’s popularity in the United States first-hand during its pre-season tour. The trip underlines Wrexham’s growing global profile, driven by its celebrity ownership, the Welcome to Wrexham documentary and successive on-field progress.

Wrexham will play Leeds in Tampa on 26 July, Liverpool in New York four days later and Sunderland in Philadelphia on 2 August. Vyner, 29, joined from Bristol City in January but had injuries and played out of position, and he hopes the tour will help him build fitness, earn minutes and settle further into the squad.

  • Vyner expects Wrexham’s US support to be eye-opening.
  • Wrexham face Leeds, Liverpool and Sunderland on tour.
  • Vyner aims to improve fitness after an injury-hit start.
