Netflix’s “The Last House” is a science-fiction horror film in which a suburban family of four is mysteriously sealed inside its home and must endure the physical and psychological consequences of isolation. Director Louis Leterrier and star Wagner Moura say the film draws on the shared experience of Covid lockdowns, particularly the emotional strain of confronting an unseen external threat while trying to protect family relationships.

The film, written by Matthew Robinson and directed by Leterrier, stars Moura as Jason and Greta Lee as Ann, parents forced to decide how much truth to share with their children as the crisis deepens. Moura said the pandemic was traumatic in Brazil but also gave him unusually intense time with his wife and sons, while Leterrier described expanding the script beyond survival into a study of how people cope mentally and emotionally. “The Last House” was released on Netflix on 7 August 2026.
