Warner Bros Korea has confirmed a September 16 release date for its Korean-language remake of the 2015 comedy hit The Intern, with veteran actor Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee taking on the roles originated by Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. The film is one of Korea's more anticipated releases, timed to open ahead of the Chuseok holiday, one of the territory's busiest cinema-going periods, and follows the strong reception the original picture had with Korean audiences.

Choi, known for Oldboy and Exhuma, plays an older man interning at a fashion startup, while Han, of Netflix's Gyeongseong Creature, plays the young entrepreneur behind the fast-growing company. The remake is produced by Anthology Studio and Warner Bros Korea and directed by Kim Do-young, whose credits include Kim Ji-young: Born 1982 and Once We Were Us. The original Nancy Meyers film grossed over $194 million worldwide; a separate Indian remake announced in 2020, starring Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan, has stalled after Padukone stepped back from the acting role last year.
