A newly released extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6 has revealed a range of gameplay features, including character interactions, relationship choices, improved combat and a revised police system. The footage matters because it offers the most detailed official view yet of how Rockstar’s next open-world crime game may play, ahead of its release.

Players can switch between protagonists Jason and Lucia instantly when they are together, take part in activities such as racing, diving and weight training, and build a Criminal Profile through free-roam behaviour. The video also shows the return of a six-star Wanted level, a bullet-time targeting mechanic, denser crowds, free-aim combat, and a Focus feature for locating police; Rockstar says the footage was captured on a PS5.
