Waymo has announced its expansion into Singapore, marking a significant extension of its autonomous vehicle operations beyond North America. The company plans to launch commercial driverless taxi services in Singapore in 2028, following its earlier entry into Tokyo, thereby establishing a presence across multiple major Asian markets.

Throughout 2027, Waymo will deploy Jaguar I-PACE vehicles on Singapore's roads, with specialist drivers manually mapping streets and calibrating the autonomous system to account for local road conditions and weather patterns. The service will launch via Waymo's own app in 2028. Similarly, in Tokyo—where testing began in 2025—commercial operations are expected to commence in 2027 through both Waymo's app and the widely used GO Taxi application. In both markets, Waymo is positioning its service to provide first-and-last-mile connectivity, filling gaps for passengers without convenient access to public transit hubs.
