‘We forgot what it’s like to be populist’: Republicans see Trump’s 2024 crumbling
Developed over time first seen 17 hours ago
A poll published on the day of the US midterm elections suggests that parts of Donald Trump’s 2024 voting coalition are becoming less reliable for Republicans. About 9% of his 2024 voters said they planned to vote for a Democrat, compared with just over 2% of Kamala Harris’s voters who planned to back a Republican. Among Hispanic Trump voters, the share identifying as MAGA fell from 56% late last year to 37% in October. The share of Trump voters aged 20 to 29 who said they were certain to vote fell from 50% to 38%. These are measures of stated intentions and enthusiasm, rather than election results.
