The achievement is remarkable for its scope and the self-imposed constraints Bushby maintained throughout—he refused to use public transport and could not return to the United Kingdom until the walk was completed. Bushby is now 57 years old and has covered 30,000 miles, with the final leg of his journey taking him from France home to Hull, expected to be completed around November.

Bushby announced the documentary via TikTok, revealing that Herzog will work with 16 years of accumulated video footage to condense the nearly three-decade adventure into a single film. The adventurer acknowledged the challenge of distilling 28 years of travel into one documentary but expressed confidence in Herzog's ability to accomplish the task. With the journey nearly complete, Bushby anticipates crossing the English Channel and returning to Hull around November 1st, ending nearly three decades away from home.
