‘What a ride’ – Meet the UFC’s longest-serving Brit
Davey Grant, the UFC’s longest-serving British fighter, says his nearly 13 years in the promotion have been the best part of his life. The 40-year-old is due to face American bantamweight Elijah Smith in Las Vegas on Saturday, continuing a career that began in November 2013.
Grant has fought 16 times in the UFC, winning nine, with injuries limiting his appearances compared with Michael Bisping’s 29 and Leon Edwards’ 19. Smith, 24, is 16 years younger and has won all three of his UFC bouts since debuting last year. Grant says his family and love of fighting keep him going, though he is also looking forward to retirement.
