What new Kane deal means for England and the Premier League record
Harry Kane has signed a new Bayern Munich contract through to 2029, keeping England’s captain and record goalscorer in Germany for the closing years of his peak career. The decision makes an emotional return to the Premier League, including to Tottenham, look less likely and leaves Alan Shearer’s scoring record further out of reach.
Kane, 33, joined Bayern from Spurs in 2023 for £86m and has scored 102 goals in 102 Bundesliga matches, winning two league titles and three consecutive Golden Boots. He has 213 Premier League goals, 47 short of Shearer’s 260, and 91 goals in 125 England appearances; his new deal also signals that Euro 2028 is in his plans, with the 2030 World Cup a possible further target.
In short
- Kane will stay at Bayern until 2029.
- Shearer’s Premier League record of 260 looks increasingly safe.
- Kane appears to be targeting Euro 2028.
