CMF Phone 2 Pro keeps key features while cutting costs elsewhere
Nothing’s CMF Phone 2 Pro costs less by preserving headline features such as its large AMOLED screen, 5,000mAh battery and three rear cameras, while using less premium components elsewhere. The trade-offs help explain how its US Beta Program price was $279, $100 below the Nothing Phone 3a, and show how budget phones can prioritise features many buyers use every day.
The CMF model has a less powerful processor, electronic rather than optical image stabilisation on its main and telephoto cameras, slower 33W charging, a single speaker and an IP54 water-resistance rating. It supports microSD cards up to 2TB and offers three years of Android updates and six years of security updates. Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis said rising memory costs made a successor difficult to price as a meaningful upgrade; the company will not release one in 2026.
In short
- CMF kept the big screen and battery while cutting costs elsewhere.
- Its $279 launch price was $100 below the Nothing Phone 3a.
- Rising memory costs are making a similarly priced successor harder.
