White House Correspondents’ Association Decries Trump Team’s “Retaliation” After POTUS Lashes Out At Reporter
The White House Correspondents’ Association accused the Trump administration of retaliating against a journalist by removing him from a press pool rotation after President Donald Trump objected to his questions. The association said restricting access for challenging the president threatens the public’s ability to rely on an independent press.
The journalist, Andrew Feinberg of The Independent, had asked Trump about the False Claims Act after the president announced a fraud tip line offering whistleblowers up to $30,000, or 1% on commissions. Trump insulted Feinberg, while Vice-President JD Vance and a White House account also attacked him online. The White House had taken control of press pool selections last year; Feinberg said he was doing his job and would return to work.
