White workers get $30million after claiming employer Lockheed Martin discriminated against them based on their race
Lockheed Martin has agreed to pay $29.5 million to settle US federal allegations that it discriminated against white employees in compensation, bonuses and performance reviews. The settlement resolves claims rather than establishing that the company committed discrimination, and the allegations have become part of the Trump administration’s campaign against workplace diversity policies.
The Department of Justice said $22 million will go to the federal government and about $7.5 million to more than 1,000 employees. Prosecutors focused on a 2021 bonus programme that flagged nominations as statistical outliers by race and sex for review, and alleged that hiring and access to training and leadership programmes were also affected. Former vice-president Tim Booher, who raised concerns and left the company in 2023, is due to receive $4.4 million under whistleblower provisions; Lockheed said it settled to avoid the cost and distraction of prolonged litigation.
In short
