Saudi Arabia-backed MBC Game Studio has announced “1001 Threads of Mazin”, an action-adventure game inspired by the Arabic folk-tale collection commonly known in English as “Arabian Nights”. The studio chose the material because its many interconnected stories offer a broad foundation for a new game world and a way to draw more widely on Arabic folklore, rather than retelling only familiar tales such as Aladdin or Sinbad.

The game follows three new protagonists—Yusra, Malik and Sufyan—as they seek the lost power of the Mizan and confront an ancient jinn king. It supports up to three players through drop-in, drop-out co-operative play, with flying-carpet travel central to its design; MBC says it has also embedded Arabic developers, folklore specialists and regional actors in the core creative team, rather than using them only as consultants.
