Wild Horse Nine Review
Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine follows two CIA agents who travel to Easter Island for a brief respite while involved in efforts to support Augusto Pinochet’s coup in Chile. The review says the film combines comedy and lively character interactions with serious subjects, including political violence and foreign-backed regime change.
Sam Rockwell plays Lee, whose loyalty is divided between his partner and the CIA, while John Malkovich plays the experienced, unpredictable Chris. Steve Buscemi also appears as MJ, a CIA operations chief who regards Chris as a liability. The reviewer praises McDonagh’s sharp, layered dialogue and the cast’s performances; the film is due in cinemas on 6 November.
