Taylor Swift's song "I Knew It, I Knew You" from Toy Story 5 could become the 19th song to win the Academy Award for best original song after also topping the Billboard Hot 100, according to Billboard. Should it triumph at the March 2026 ceremony, it would also mark the first back-to-back pairing of Oscar-winning, chart-topping songs since the 1980s, following this year's win for "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters.

Swift's track, co-written with Jack Antonoff, spent its first two weeks at No. 1 in June, and Toy Story 5 is currently the highest-grossing film of 2026 both in North America and worldwide, boosting its Oscar prospects. Only 18 songs have achieved the double feat of hitting No. 1 on the Hot 100 and winning the Oscar since the chart launched in 1958, starting with B.J. Thomas's "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" in 1970; the feat was most common in the 1970s and 1980s but has become rarer since. The best original song shortlist is due on 15 December, nominations on 21 January 2026, and the ceremony will be held on 14 March 2026.
